Soldierfly records on the NBN Gateway
The National Biodiversity Network (NBN) is a partnership of many organisations involved in biological recording, and one of its main functions is to enable records to be shared via the NBN Gateway website. Organisations contributing data to NBN can now display a badge showing that they are participating, and the Soldierflies and Allies Recording Scheme is pleased to qualify for this.
By sharing the recording scheme data via the NBN we can help make it available for research, conservation and general interest. We still have some work to do to get all the scheme data onto the NBN Gateway, but a lot of it is there:
- Records entered via iRecord (mostly since 2012)
- Records stored by the Biological Records Centre (up to 1990)
Records for Scotland have also been provided for the NBN's new Atlas of Living Scotland, but there is a queue for data to be processed and as yet they haven't appeared on that site.
None of this would be possible of course without all the people who send records in the the recording scheme - a big thank you to everyone who has sent in even a single record.
